In 2012, the Spirit of Woodford Awards Video Award and the Photography Award is closed to new entries, and will featuring the best of the series from the last nine years. These awards have in the past have been generously sponsored by Nutri-Tech Solutions and the State Library of Queensland. Entrants were asked to focus on subject matter that reflected the spirit of a group, artist, performer or person who inspires you and makes our planet a better place to share. The entries have been unique, beautiful, surprising and valuable, and we are looking forward to showcasing the variety and awarding the tenth and final prizes at this year’s Woodford Folk Festival.
The Original Stories & Yarns Performance Award has a prize of $1,000 – Sponsored by the Queensland Folk Federation Inc and is open to an original story or yarn, fact or fiction, with an uplifting and inspirational storyline.

This is a fresh call out to all street and beat spoken word maestros, hip-hop freestylers, haiku writers and performance poets. We want to give you two minutes and a mic and let you rip up the stage with fresh verses and tight rhymes that will set the Woodford night on fire!
The WordFood Slam is back on the festival menu following a tear-away victory to winner Jo Sri last year.
Once again, we call for all hot word chefs to slam new recipes into the mic, competing for $1000 cash and a Season festival pass for the following year (with your own feature at the slam final) and most important of all... the right to hold aloft the coveted perpetual ‘WordFood Slam Shield’!
