Festival Venues: Blue Lotus
Folk Medicine - The inaugural Folk Medicine program happens over a steaming cup of herbal tea in the Blue Lotus. Interact with guest speakers after each presentation or at the daily forum. Folk medicine is an expression of the many paths to wellness revealed in timeless folk healing traditions. Daily themes include What is Right and Wrong in Modern Medicine, Recreational Drugs and Self Reality, the Emotional Component of Disease and End of Life Choices. Film - The Blue Lotus lights up at night as the home of the Festival Cinema and the annual Woodford Film Festival! Be nourished, confronted, inspired, amazed, shocked, moved, soothed and sated by some of the best national and international films, documentaries and shorts, meet directors and film-makers, and debate the issues raised in topical docos. The festival has set a rich and groaning table of film fare and fair film, from the Kids' Shorts program to the Sonar Radars hypnotic experiment with DW Griffith's 1916 classic, Intolerance. And we treat film nuts to three sparkling showcases - the QPIX short film collection, showing the best of recent Queensland film making, a Best of the YFFQ (Young Filmmakers Festival Queensland), with its focus on emerging film-makers, and the wonderfully eclectic and diverse world of the Australian International Animation Festival.
