AUSfolk Conference - Highlighting Community & Cultural Events
The very first AUSfolk conference will be held on site at Woodfordia, home of the annual Woodford Folk Festival, September 2nd - 4th 2010.
The Queensland Folk Federation (QFF), a not-for-profit community organisation (producers of the Woodford Folk Festival, The Dreaming and The Planting), are playing host to AUSfolk Folk Alliance Australia Convention.
AUSfolk is a conference for cultural activists, organisers, venue, club and event managers highlighting community and cultural events.
Folks, you are welcome to come along and immerse yourself in hypothetical, debate, forum, entertainment, networking, presentations and information on effectively creating community events. Early bird registration ensures attractive discounts (until August 20).

2011 Expressions of Interest have been extended
Expressions of interest for the 2011 Dreaming Festival have been extended until the 30th June 2010. All artists considering presenting their work at the festival are asked to go to the online and complete the Artists Expression of Interest application form under the “Apply to -> Arists and Presenters”’ menu on this website.

Call for Indigenous MCs
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MCs are being sought for this years Dreaming Festival. Positions are voluntary and will be rostered across the various soundstages and events. To be considered simply complete the volunteers online application form and list MC as your area of interest. Don’t be shame be game!!

Volunteers are given a direct hands-on experience within all facets of the festival and are closely managed by various department heads. The Dreaming 2010 programme is launched
The programme booklet for the Dreaming 2010 is now available. The cost this year is $5 (plus $2.50 p&h if applicable) and is available online until midnight 30th May.

New Programme Director Announced for The Dreaming festival
The Queensland Folk Federation would like to announce the appointment of Sam Cook as Programming Director of The Dreaming festival - Australia’s International Indigenous festival.
Raised in Western Australia and coming from the Nyikina nation of the Kimberley region in the States north-west, Ms Cook grew up surrounded by the arts. Her career has taken her through music, theatre, literature, visual arts and executive arts management, leading groundbreaking international initiatives and national arts outcomes. She has previously held the position of Executive Producer of YirraYaakin Theatre and was recently developing international partnership programs and lecturing on Indigenous Arts Management through the Wilin Centre, based at the faculty of the VCA & Music, University of Melbourne.
Sam’s vision is to continue moving The Dreaming festival forward from the foundationsand programme direction created by the Queensland Folk Federation and previous Artistic Director Rhoda Roberts.
